Lake Bourget

The largest natural lake in France keeps its sense of mystery. The deserted west bank has been called the ‘wild coast’. From the lake it appears like an island with its inlets and bays.
 
At the extreme north end of the lake the reed beds offer a home to ducks, water hens, coots, grebes, herons, and even cormorants.

Hautecombe Abbey

This masterpiece of gothic troubadour architecture is the cemetery of the house of Savoy. More than 40 princes were buried here including the famous Green Count, and the Red Count.

Chanaz and the Saviere Canal

The Saviere canal is the overspill for the lake and feeds the river Rhone. Delight in the flow of the water as it passes through the charming village of Chanaz.
